My Approach
As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist my work is informed by a number theories such as Integrative Relational (Clarkson), Psychodynamic, Person Centred, Existential and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT).
According to research it has been shown that it is not the approach itself but rather the quality of the relationship between client and therapist that determines how effective talking therapy can be.
With this in mind, my aim is to offer a safe space where you can feel comfortable sharing your story and experience with me and I will not push you to talk about anything you don't feel, either ready to or comfortable with. Trust is of utmost importance and I understand that this can take time to build for different people.
I am both calm and patient in nature and I have a great interest in people and their stories. I am particularly fascinated by how our pasts and upbringings can influence our present lives; our actions, how we feel about ourselves and how we feel in relationships. You might expect me to ask you about your past, with the aim to find the root of what you are experiencing today and to find what might be helpful to change in the present in order for you to achieve what you are hoping for.
I see counselling and psychotherapy as a journey and an exploration into who you are and what has lead you to where you are now and where you would like to be. For me it is a privilege to join you on this journey and I very much look forward to getting to know you and working with you.
